FULLY VACCINATED people regardless of age can now Travel: DOT

MANILA — The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Friday said fully vaccinated individuals regardless of age from Metro Manila are now allowed to travel on a point-to-point basis.

This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force, amended Part 1 Section 3 of the guidelines for areas under alert level 4 to allow the following persons to travel in areas under general community quarantine and modified GCQ:

– Those below 18 years old;
– Fully vaccinated individuals over 65 years of age;
– Fully vaccinated individuals with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities, or other health risks; and
– Fully vaccinated pregnant women

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat welcomed this development, citing its significance in the revival of the country’s local tourism industry.

“Further easing of travel restrictions will allow more of our fully vaccinated individuals to enjoy interzonal travel, especially families who wish to travel together. Traveling is a way of bonding, and with all the precautions and protocols in place, we can still do it safely together. More importantly, this will encourage more Filipinos to secure their jobs as well,” she said.

“As restrictions are lifted, more tourism workers and stakeholders will get back the jobs and livelihoods they lost due to the pandemic,” she added.

The DOT will be releasing the guidelines for P2P travel to ensure that health and safety protocols are complied with.

Meanwhile, RT-PCR test requirements would depend on the protocols imposed by the destination.

CAMBODIA to fully re-open in 2 weeks!

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia can fully reopen its economy across all sectors if the Covid-19 situation post Pchum Ben remains stable at current levels for at least 10 consecutive days.

Prime Minister Hun Sen while revealing this after the Cabinet meeting on Friday added that reopening fully is however dependent on the people adjusting their lifestyles to live with the new normal, whereby Covid-19 is viewed as endemic and no longer as a pandemic.

“The current Covid-19 situation remains stable with less than 20 deaths per day as well as less than 300 cases recorded per day. If the situation remains as it is for the next 10 to 15 days, then I think it is time to reopen the economy and society across all sectors under the new normal concept,” Hun Sen said while stressing that people must maintain vigilance and follow health protocols strictly.

The premier also reiterated that the bulk of the victims who had died from Covid-19 were unvaccinated and he lambasted a segment of the population who were pro-opposition for not getting themselves vaccinated.

He added that on Thursday, out of 10 Covid-19-related deaths five were found to be unvaccinated while five have been vaccinated.
